Welcome! Thank you for visiting my portfolio website. I’m an Artist, Illustrator, and Writer. I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, grew up mostly in Melbourne, Australia. I currently live in Los Angeles, California with my husband and three small children.
I work on my art traditionally, using pencils, ink, watercolor and acrylic paint. I often use Photoshop to enhance my work and create digital design elements. My portfolio reflects my traditional, painterly style with an emphasis on realism and capturing people and animals as I see them. I'm also presenting another more whimsical style I have developed in recent years, using media such as watercolor and inks, which focuses more on narrative story telling, humor and empathy for children.
I am currently working on writing and illustrating my first picture book about a picky eater who finds her way to eventually liking vegetables through gardening and cooking with her family. I have a book dummy available for anyone interested in my story.
I have a BFA in Illustration and Design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. I was formerly a Texture and Surfacing Artist in the film and animation industry. Once I had children I turned toward writing and illustration as a way to hold onto the memories of my children in their baby and younger years. I'm very happy to be able to work from home and be with my children as much as I can.
I have always had a great love for children's picture books and literature. I want to help impart that same joy to others.
I recently attended The SCBWI Big Five-Oh Summer Conference. It was a great reminder of why I'm so happy to be a part of the SBWI community. I'm grateful Lin Oliver founded SCBWI those 50 years ago. If you are a member, please send me a message or follow me on social media. I love connecting with other writers, illustrators and children's book creators.
